Romancing the Past

You know I remember when I lived in a dorm and did all the things you normally do in a dorm such as study with music and noise all around. Not too long ago I was at a small university with a friend and I said I thought it would be fun to go back to school and live in the dorm. My friend laughed and said you wouldn’t even last a week simply because I now need a lack of noise to concentrate. Then there was the time that I was babysitting for a professor and we got into a discussion about staying up all night for exams. The professor said that he could never stay up all night. I just couldn’t imagine that. You just start working and next thing you know it is morning and time to go to class.

Today is a completely different story. I am a few years older and now when I want to stay up all night I end up falling asleep at the table around midnight! Ah youth, you go through school training for “what you want to be when you grow up” but do we ever grow up. Once we enter the phase of “retirement” most of us seem to be found actually in another phase of “what do I want to be when I grow up.” I retired from my job a while back and thought of all the things I could do now that I don’t have to wait for vacation time to do them. It was time for the question of what did I want to do when I grow up? I can remember when I was in High School my Dad telling me to come up with an idea and he would get it patented and I looked at him as if he had three eyes. Me come up with an idea? It is as if by accident that my business was born. I have found the answer to what I want to do when I grow up. I want to help people and I am doing that with my own business. I am helping people be able to travel again with ease. What do you want to be when you grow up?
