Mom and Girl Scouts

My mother was a major influence not only on my life but on the lives of all the girls that were in the troops that she led. She started with my troop when I was in fifth grade. Our leader at the time had only agreed to go thru brownies. Mom was reluctant at first to take on the responsibility, but after much coaxing she agreed to be the leader. I learned a lot in those years not only from working on my own projects, but also in helping Mom prepare for the meetings and prepare for our always fun and adventuresome camping trips. Mom felt that Girl Scouts was such a benefit and offered so many opportunities that after I graduated she became a troop leader for a troop that was going to have to disband due to a lack of a leader. Years later girls from the different troops would com up to Mom and tell her how much fun they had had and the wonderful memories they have of those years.
